Scheepers keeps Top 10 in latest rankings

South African star Anneke Scheepers has remained inside the top 10 in the latest World Bowls Series rankings.

Scheepers sits in 9th place as she faces an anxious wait to see if the points accrued will be enough to see her line up at the first-ever World Bowls Series finals will be staged at cluBarham, New South Wales, Australia.

The event will take place from 9-13 December and will showcase the top bowlers from around the world as the top 10 in both men’s and women’s rankings will be invited.

The cut-off date for a place in the top 10 is October 31.

A further two female and male players will be given special exemptions based on their ranking and their performances in sanctioned events in November 2025.

Compatriot Esme Kruger sits in 12th but will not be playing in any rankings tournaments before the cut off. Thabelo Muvhango is 30th.

Bridget Herselman, currently ranked 170th in the world, will get the chance to add some points to her tally when she takes to the greens at the World Champion of Champions in September.

SA Open champion Brendan Ferns, ranked 166th, will likewise get the same opportunity.

In the men’s rankings, Scotland’s Jason Banks remains on top while Australia’s Lee Schraner moved two places to jump from sixth to fourth.

Wayne Roberts is South Africa’s highest-ranked player in 12th but is unlikely to be able to add to his tally and will thus likely fail to make the top 10 lineup.

Jason Evans is 30th in the world according to the latest rankings.

There have so far been four men’s No 1 ranked players – Sherriff (Australia), Izzat Shameer Dzukelple (Malaysia), Anderson and Banks for Scotland, while holding the kudos as women’s No 1’s are Cottrell (Australia), McKerihen (Canada), Nor Farah Ain Abdullah (Malaysia) and now Kernick.
