The 5th International Bowls for Disabled (IBD) World Championships that is to be hosted by Ekurhuleni Bowls is being played at Delville BC (HQ), Kempton Park, (Alt HQ) and Benoni Bowling Clubs from 18 - 31 May 2024 with Lake BC being the practice club.

South Africa, England, Scotland, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and Korea.

Tournament history:
The event is a bowls world championship of disabled men and women who are Physically Disabled (PD) or Visually Impaired (VI). The event was last held in Wellington, New Zealand in 2015 and previous to that in Pretoria, South Africa in 2011 and Sydney, Australia in 2007.
The event supersedes the International Para Olympic (IPC) world championships which were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2004. At all of the previous events South Africa’s disabled bowlers were the overall champions
The 2019 championships were due to be held in Scotland but they withdrew and the event was rescheduled for Christchurch, New Zealand in November 2020. As a result of COVID-19 they were finally cancelled.
